Air chain hoists or pneumatic chain hoists can be used to lift heavy or light loads. Such hoists are powered by a compressed air feed and eliminate the requirement for an electric power supply. Therefore air hoists are suited to applications in explosive or hazardous environments and are commonly provided with details about the particular hazardous environments for which they are manufactured for use. Users might specify ATEX and IECEx air chain hoists for an oil and gas application.
They are also common in high duty applications where long heights or lift are required as there is no motor to be overworked or overheated. Workshops, manufacturing, production, maintenance and other lifting applications employ the use of air chain hoists. Hook, chain, control and other components are contained within each unit. Air chain hoists are available chained to suit height of lift requirements and can be supplied hook suspended or mounted.
